The 3 main positions in Bharatanatyam!

We also use these in our Bollywood dance classes to help practice good form and strengthen our muscles.

Samapadam - Keep your feet together pointed forwarded and keep your back straight back straight.

Aramandi - β€œAra” means half, β€œMandi” means sit. The word Aramandi literally means half sit! Your heels point towards each other, while your toes point to opposite side. Your feet should be placed in a straight line. (This one is the hardest)

Murumandi - β€œMuru” means full, β€œMandi” means sit. The word Murumandi means full sit! Spread your knees apart while sitting as low as possible. Your heels are elevated while the toes are pointing in opposite directions.
